What is really lurking in your bath water? Watch our Rock Videos and listen to The Contents of The Bath song, you can even download it for FREE! Timing. Timing and getting the timing right is something that is very hard to achieve. In the current economic climate, timing really is everything. In the newspapers this weekend there was talk of NM Rothschild being called in to save the once dominant estate agent Foxtons. I am pretty sure that no one would of thought they would be reading that headline even just a year ago. Foxtons is best known for its aggressive sales tactics and branded green minis stealing all the parking spaces in London. In May 2007 the company was bought by the private equity firm BC Partners for £390m at the height of the property market and buyout boom. The outspoken and boisterous founder Jon Hunt walked away from the deal with over £360m. It has since been reported that Foxtons is trading well below its performance targets although the company is apparently just being able to repay its interest payments. Now the company would not be worth a fart! It is all about timing - well done Jon Hunt. It just goes to show how important timing really is, not just in business but in all aspects of life. As someone who was recently made redundant I know this only too well. When you consider past actions and how you wish you would have done something - for example how I wish I had stayed in my well paid headhunting job with an established firm. Instead I thought the time was right to jump ship and do something a bit more trendy by joining a wishy washy events company that over egged their business targets. At the time it seemed like the right thing to do, now I am highly unemployed (last in first out) and trying to get a job in a faltering economy, which is not proving too simple. I suppose the timing of my trip to New York next week does not help either, as the £6 I have in my wallet is not going to go very far even if the pound is riding high against the dollar. It also looks like I will be swimming across the Solent tomorrow in order to get to the uber cool Bestival festival, as it will certainly be cheaper that the £20 ferry crossing! Timing really is everything. Author: Blueford Ups Distributed by: Redvers Downs, redvers@redversdowns.co.uk Redvers Downs has put pen to paper and has written a song called The Contents of The Bath.
