Moscow is the largest city in Europe and is the seventh largest city in the world. Moscow is a leading European political, cultural, and financial center of Russia and the world. Choosing seven reasons to visit Moscow is no problem. Actually, it would be easy to find 20 or 30 reasons to visit Moscow. A glittering world capital with an enthralling and rich history, Moscow is a place you will remember forever Here, in no particular ranking are seven reasons you should visit Moscow.

1. Novodevichy Convent. This convent was constructed in 1524 and has been used as a convent, a fortress, and a location for uncooperative royal family members to be kept. Though located in the center of Moscow, it is in a quiet neighborhood and is a very popular choice for tourists and locals to get away from the bustle of the city. The cemetery is the final resting place of Raisa Gorbachev, Sergei Prokofiev, and Nikita Khrushchev|Dmitri Shostokovich.

2. Exploring the Metro. Moscow's subway system was considered a "palace of the people," or a public gathering place that was architecturally remarkable and decorated with artifacts glorifying the Soviet Union. The downtown stations possess priceless works of art including marble archways, mosaics, and concrete columns.

3. Moscow's club scene. Most nightclubs and pubs also function as billiards halls, cafes, gambling halls, or bowling alleys. You'll find this convenient because taxicabs in Moscow are quite expensive, and you can experience several types of nightlife without having to venture far. If clubs are your thing, Moscow has some of the brashest, most outrageous examples in the world.

4. Winter in Moscow. It is probably the coldest you'll ever be, but Moscow takes on a different personality when it's blanketed in snow. Bars and cafes become gathering places for those getting out of the intense cold. Many Russians are off work for the first fourteen days of the new year, so if you're visiting around New Year's Day, this fact may be a factor in the happy atmosphere.

5. Upscale shopping. Muscovites include some of the most dedicated upscale shoppers worldwide. Russians love to dress up and aren't kept away by high prices. Be prepared to lay out some major cash in all the top designer boutiques and shopping centers in Moscow.

6. Red Square. Spend at a minimum one day here. There is adequate history and enough museums, works of art, and other attractions to keep you occupied for a very long time.

7. The Kremlin. In the center of Moscow, near the Moskva River and Red Square, the Kremlin conglomeration includes many cathedrals, four palaces, an enclosing wall, and towers. Many parts of it are open to visitors and are not to be missed.

Moscow has transformed into a beautiful city and is commonly thought of as a world city alongside great cities like Paris, New York, and Shanghai. There is great wealth and spending in Moscow, but there is also a richly detailed and long history here making it one of the great cities anywhere that any international tourist should make a point to visit.
