How Does The System Work? It operates through ADTâ€™s two-way voice system intercom. If there is an emergency, the senior can press the button carried with them or the button on the base unit. The unit will then dial the number for a 24 hour help center staffed with professionally trained advisorâ€™s who have years of experience in aiding seniors with their health concerns. The advisor will ascertain if there is an emergency, the severity of the emergency, and then dispatch an ambulance or alert a family member. The base unite operates through the existing phone lines of the home. If a phone is off the hook in the home, the unit will attempt to dial out. If there is no success, it will emit a loud, high-pitched sound to alert the homeowner that it cannot dial out. There is also an available upgrade for the unit that will disconnect any phone in use throughout the home and dial out. The system works up to a distance of 300 feet from the base unit, ensuring the utmost security and safety, even for the outdoors. In addition, the unit comes with a batter backup that can power it for up to 20 hours in the event of a power failure. One other innovative feature of ADTâ€™s home medical monitoring system is that it comes with temperature sensors. These sensors monitor the temperature in the home and if the temperature drops below a safe level or climbs above a safe level, the unit will automatically dial for help. There is also an unconditional warranty on parts, labor and service. You will never be charged for repairs to the unit unless the unit or transmitter is lost.
