Not every superhero wears a costume

By: Jordan Howler

With all the focus of criminology being in the superhero movies, people tend to lose sight of the fact that this is a field that has been designed for real people in the law enforcement world. The criminology standards are not just for capturing the criminals and sending them to jail, they are also the standards that are used in the methods of gaining evidence and profiling the criminal at large.
Both the evidence gathering and the profiling are areas that are traditionally led by specialist in those respective fields. The evidence is very broad in the locating and the identifying of anything that could be pertaining to it. This is usually the items or refuse that is left at a crime scene and could have no meaning to other people. To someone that has been trained in evidence gathering, a crime scene can be a goldmine of information. In many cases, the crime scene is usually where the basics and the particulars are gathered to build a case and also in locating who broke the law.
Profiling is something that has only really gained a high level of attention in the past few decades. This is an approach where the law enforcement has a specialist that can determine the mindset and the possible choices of the criminal at hand. In some rare cases, the profiling can be lacking, as there are some criminals that are just too unique for this method to fully define them. In most cases, however, the profiler can devise a strong profile of what the person likely looks like and also where they might strike next. This has become a very powerful resource in some cases where the criminal would otherwise have gotten away.
The areas of criminology are all centered on criminal justice and the people that have taken this as their path in life. Many of the people in this profession are the super heroes of the everyday life. They may not wear a cape or a cowl, but they influence is no less profound. These are the people that have saved lives and taken monsters off of the street. Whether they are a specialist or a beat cop, the law enforcement members are all there for the same reason, to keep the community safe and prosperous.
