The SES positions in the federal government are highly sought after positions.
They are the backbone of the Federal Government as they provide the leadership in government regardless of the administration in power.
This high level corp of executives are the ones responsible for the continued operation of the federal government. They are the policy makers and enforcers. They oversee and mentor and create the systems and routines needed to maintain a running government that has the liability of a leadership change every four years.
The Senior Executive Service (SES) requires individuals of Integrity and Purpose and in reality the Federal Government will not function without these individuals.
Currently there is under discussion on Capitol Hill a bill that is designed to increase in the diversity of those holding these all important positions.
Here is an excerpt from an article by Alyssa Rosenberg in the Government Executive.com:
"Federal employee groups are ramping up efforts to support a bill that would increase the diversity of the Senior Executive Service..."
"We have an active grassroots network and will be encouraging our thousands of members to send letters to their senators asking them to co-sponsor this important bill," said Janet Kopenhaver, the Washington representative for Federally Employed Women..."
"The legislation would require the Office of Personnel Management director to create within 180 days of the bill's passage an agency office devoted to Senior Executive Service issues."
Senior Executive Service positions offer fantastic salaries and the benefits are the best available anywhere.
During the current economic trend with many executive level individuals seeking change ,the SES can be the best possible answer for their employment needs.
